Update on the Strange Circles and Pottery Shards
So we have an update on them strange circles and pottery shards! 😊
The big guns from the Research Centre of the Slovenian Academy of Sciences and Arts looked into our photos and came up with a preliminary verdict:
1. The circles are (almost surely) mushroom-made fairy rings. As you can see in the GIF below, they overlay the early modern field partition that can be seen on LIDAR data, so they must be younger.

This GIF shows the rings are younger than early-modern field partition.
2. The pottery shards are probably Roman, and the experts say the finds do look 'archaeological' - so there can be something hidden under the rings - that warrants further exploration!

A field examination by the experts and maybe (maybe!) an exploratory trench (ha!) is in order - later this month! 🙃
And Dr. Benjamin Štular was kind enough to combine our kite aerial photos into a 3D model! Check it out!
