For over one MONTH (!) the weather conspired against our core business, Kite Aerial Photography. The draught finally came to an end - over an aptly flooded Planina karst field.

But it wasn't just a kite aerial photo op that brought us here. KAP Jasa Kite Society was invited again to represent Slovenia's kite flying prowess at the International Kite Festival in Gujarat, India in January - with three flyers from our cl...

It's time to braaaag! :-)

Every September the Wikipedia community organizes a global photo challenge called "Wiki Loves Monuments". It's a huge photography competition - actually, it's the hugest in the world, according to Guinness Book of Records.

Participants take pictures of local historical monuments and heritage sites in their region, and upload them to Wikimedia Commons. The aim of event is to highlight the heritage sites...

True, our main business is kite aerial photography, not flying show kites.  But kites are beautiful and fascinating and fun flying on their own too, especially if they are big and colorful and when they fill up the sky.

That's why kite festivals are such a big thing in many parts of the world; large gatherings of kite enthustiasts puting on fantastic aerial shows with thousands of spectators in awe. Like the great I...

We've just returned from an amazing kite & KAP experience on the magical adriatic island of Prvic, Croatia.

Prvic and the islands of Šibenik archipelago

Prvic is a small island not far from the coast with less than 500 inhabitants, and - after the hordes of tourists leave - it's a true mediterranean pocket paradise. Every year in the beginning of October the people of Prvic Luka relax and organize the Creative days of Faust Vr...

Kite aerial photographers are prone to exaggeration, and World Wide KAP Week 2019 is no exception: it's a week that lasts for three weeks. So as we went to the Ljubljana Marshes Landscape Park to test the Giant Wiener Doggo Kite, we had just enough time to do a quick kite aerial photo session. The almost-autumn sun was low, the shadows were getting longer, and a soft, warm light was embracing the Marshes ...

The kite testing g...

While KAP Jasa kite society is mainly doing kite aerial photography, we do kites too ... We have made a couple of KAP workhorses (a venerable Rokakku, a couple of deltas, Millie the french military kite, a fled and a Royal 69 sled), but we designed and made some showkites too - to fly them for fun, at kite festivals and for the amusement of general public.

Exaggeration is the word when we - and by 'we' we mean Janez, or dr.ago...

Every year - around the time when Autumn announces itself - kite aerial photography afficionados participate in the World Wide KAP Week. This year WWKW 2019 lasts from 14th to 29th of September (yes, KAPers do exaggerate things), and flying the camera is a must.

Our first try didn't go as expected - the wind was uberturbulent (even at 150 m our venerable Rokkaku wouldn't stay still) and way too strong for the large, soft wind...

Yes, we do visit the intermittent Lake Cerknica often. And for a good reason; it is one of the natural wonders of this part of Europe, and it's a changeling. Every season - no, every month, every week, sometimes even during one day! - it shows a different face. A new, wondrous, unknown, beautful face.

The meanders of Stržen creek.

The northwestern part of the lake is where its waters finally touch the limestone rocks. Those ar...

It's beer o'clock somewhere, right?

This is the main building of Union Brewery - Pivovarna Union - the brewery of Ljubljana (and, according to one member of KAP Jasa team, the producer of the best, if not the only beer in the world - others are just fizzy drinks with low alcohol content).

It's logotype is a dragon, which is apt as the Ljubljana coat of arms features a dragon on the castle tower. And since the Slovene word...

 We gave up.

We admit - we tried, but we failed. We must concede defeat.

Stržen creek flows through the dried-up Lake Cerknica.

The intermittent Lake Cerknica is one of the greatest karst wonders of the world, an exceptional and fragile ecoysytem, a true mystery of Nature. People living by the lake were using its resources since times immemorial in a semi-harmonius, almost-sustainable way. But we wanted more: we wanted to ma...
